Winnipeg Game Jams (2010 - present)
The fourth annual event took place on Thursday, June 8th to Sunday, June 11th 2017 using the theme "Nothing Is What It Seems"
New Media Manitoba and The Winnipeg Game Collective presented PegJam 2017. The event included an incredible line up of speakers and the chance to make some great new games. Learning and hanging out with the amazing local talent over the weekend and help building some incredible games. The year's event built on the massive success of last year's jam.

PegJam VR 0.1 was a virtual reality game jam/workshop held on Tuesday, May 16th to Thursday, May 18th at the Portal Winnipeg. With the help of local VR experts a small group of game developers collaborated on unique arcade style multiplayer experience.

Ludum Dare is an online community best known for “Ludum Dare”, the Accelerated Game Development Event of the same name (also called a “Game Jam”).
The Global Game Jam® (GGJ) is the world's largest game jam event (game creation) taking place around the world at physical locations. The weekend stirs a global creative buzz in games, while at the same time exploring the process of development, be it programming, iterative design, narrative exploration or artistic expression. This event was held on January 20th - 22nd at ACI Manitoba with support from New Media Manitoba.
Organized on Friday, August 26th to Sunday, August 28th, 2016 at ACI Manitoba by the Winnipeg Game Collective with partnership from New Media Manitoba, Electric Monk Media, and ACI Manitoba. The idea of this jam was to pick a book and design a game based on that book.
Taking place on Thursday, June 16th to Sunday, June 19th 2016 using the theme "There Goes The Neighbourhood" over the course of the weekend we saw 55+ people make over 20 games, also roughly 6 of those games were made for the Winnitron, with 1 VR game being made for the HTC Vive. Over a quarter of attendees were first time jammers with over 5 of those also being first time game devs!

A local event taking place at ACI Manitoba during the 34th Ludum Dare global game jam on Friday, December 11th to Sunday, December 13th, 2015. Using the themes "Two Button Controls" and "Growing" these developers spent the weekend working to make their creative ideas a reality.
Off the success of the 2014 Winnipeg Game Jam as well as the Ludum Dare 32 local game jam the 2015 Winnipeg Game Jam was held on Thursday, May 28th to Sunday, May 31st. In conjunction with the Winnitron Ressurrection Jam: Halifax being held in Halifax, Nova Scoatia. The themes were "Land & Sea" and "Resurrection". "Land & Sea" because Winnipeg is landlocked and Halifax is a coastal city, and "Resurrection" because the Winnitron was being revived from the dead.
Taking place at the New Media Manitoba space and at home, local indie game developers came together to participate in the 32nd Ludum Dare global game jam. From Friday, April 17 to Sunday, April 19th of 2015, these developers built games around the theme "An Unconventional Weapon."
The 2014 Winnipeg Game Jam took place on Thursday, July 24th to Sunday, July 27th, 2014 saw tremendous growth in the community that culminated in a amazing game jam weekend. Including hosting guest speakers from Halifax, NS as well as from our own community.
On Friday, January 11 to Sunday, January 13th, 2013 marked the last game jams run by the Bit Collective. Although game jams would continue to grow in the following years.
Indie Game: The Movie created by local Winnpegers James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot premiered on February 3rd, 2012. To celebrate the launch of the film local developers decided to throw a game jam at Skullspace on the same weekend along with a private screening of the film for the jam attendees. With support from James and Lisanne, Skullspace and New Media Manitoba.

"So what is “Room Jam“? It’s an idea I came up with a few months ago. Everyone builds their own ‘room’ containing its own gameplay, art style, etc. We then put them all together into one large seamless crazy awesome game. Players would then progress from one random room to the next. We call it: “So Many Rooms“." -Devin Reimer

On Friday, May 28 to Sunday, May 30, 2010 Alec Holowka from Infinite Ammo along with support from Fortune Cat Games Studio, New Media Manitoba, and Matthew Wegner organinzed a TIG Jam at Fortune Cat Games Studio.
