A new year, a new meet up! 2015 saw several Ludem Dare events, including the recent Ludem Dare 34 organized by Graeme Borland. Head Over To Ludem Dare now to see a roundup from LD34 winnipeg. We also had Peg Jam 2015 which had a great turnout and several inspiring talks from Trevor Johnson, Devin Reimer, Meghan Athavale and Justin Amirkhani, our out of town guest from Vagabond Dog in Toronto. Its great to see such enthusiasm and commitment from the Winnipeg Game Development community and we especially appreciate our principal sponsor New Media Manitoba. We also saw a showcase of Manitoba developers at BaseLAN this year at the C4 Central Canada Comic Con. Its great to see more opportunities to showcase development to the broader community.
2015 also saw the development of the Creation Lab at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) hosted by New Media Manitoba, OnScreen Manitoba and the National Film Board. Watch for more exciting events between these organizations in 2016!
2015 Also saw some changes with New Media Manitoba itself, with Louie Ghiz taking over the role of Executive Director from longstanding ED Kevin Hnatiuk. I want to wish Kevin the best of luck in his new ventures and welcome Louie into 2016. While Kevin leaves some big shoes to fill, Louie has been a staunch, longtime supporter of the Game Development community in Winnipeg and we're looking forward to his enthusiasm and leadership moving forward.
All these exciting events in 2015 are great but now that 2016 is here its time to pull up our socks and keep that momentum going. Tonights Winnipeg Game Collective Meetup will be discussing Ludem Dare 35 in April and Peg Jam 2016. If you are interested in volunteering and /or have suggestions for topics or speakers it would be great if you could join us or drop me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org . I would love to hear your feedback and input and Tuesday January 26th at the Yellow Dog Tavern at 7:30 is the time to do it,
Hope to see you there!
