Unity for Non-Game Developers (Full Stack Manitoba)

  • Millennium Library 251 Donald Street Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3P5 Canada (map)

This will be an high level introduction to the Unity game engine for programmers with little to no experience with the engine. Starting off by looking at game engines as a whole, we'll then get into Unity and what it offers. Topics include: Game Objects, Components, Meshes, Lighting, Physics, Scripting, and The Unity Asset Store. All the topics will be accompanied by live demos in the engine. This session you will have a strong sense of what Unity can do, and how you can start building your own game or graphically rich application.

About the Speaker

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Matheu grew up on the golden age of 8-bit video games. After graduating from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Film Studies and Philosophy, Matheu had a not completely unsuccessful run as a independent filmmaker before he became a programmer. Once he got into coding, his love for art and his love for video games drove him to get involved in the indie game community. While in college, Matheu founded the RRC Game Dev club where his classmate programmers, and the students from the school’s digital arts program could meet, collaborate, and create games. He now works as a Tool's Developer for Ubisoft Winnipeg.
